Death Hunt (1981) is an action-thriller set in the rugged Canadian wilderness in 1931. The film follows Albert Johnson, a mysterious and skilled trapper who rescues a badly injured dog from a brutal dogfight. His act of kindness angers the dog's owner, leading to a violent confrontation with local men. When one of them is found dead, Johnson is falsely accused of murder, sparking a massive manhunt.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), led by Sergeant Edgar Millen, are sent to capture Johnson. Millen, an experienced and pragmatic officer, begins to doubt the accusations against Johnson but must follow orders. Meanwhile, Johnson, an expert survivalist, retreats into the mountains, using his knowledge of the terrain to stay ahead. As the chase intensifies, bounty hunters and lawmen join forces, turning the hunt into a full-scale siege.

Despite being outnumbered, Johnson proves to be a formidable opponent, setting traps and ambushing his pursuers. His ability to outthink and outmaneuver the heavily armed men turns him into a legend. Millen, though determined to complete his mission, starts to admire Johnsonโ€™s resilience and skill. However, tensions rise among the lawmen, as some see Johnson as a folk hero while others seek revenge.

As the relentless pursuit continues, Johnson is pushed to his physical and mental limits. The harsh wilderness becomes both his greatest ally and his deadliest enemy. The film delivers intense action sequences, including shootouts, deadly ambushes, and daring escapes. With each encounter, Johnsonโ€™s legend grows, but his chances of survival diminish.

Death Hunt is a gripping tale of survival, justice, and the struggle between law and morality. Charles Bronson gives a powerful performance as Johnson, portraying a man of few words but great determination. Lee Marvinโ€™s portrayal of Millen adds complexity, as he wrestles with duty versus conscience. With breathtaking cinematography and thrilling action, the film remains a classic of the manhunt genre.
